Olive Young for foreigners — the actually-worth-buying list (not the influencer version)

Every Korean beauty TikTok "must-buy" list has the same 40 products and 90% of them are just… fine. Not bad, not life-changing. Here's what I actually restock at Olive Young after 2 years of trial and error, filtered for people who don't live here.

Stuff that actually works for most skin types and is dramatically cheaper than getting it shipped abroad:

• Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun — the SPF that started the whole "K-sunscreen supremacy" thing. Around 12,000₩. Not greasy, doesn't pill, doesn't leave a cast on medium skin tones. Buy 3 tubes.
• Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner — hydrating toner, not an astringent. If your skin is doing "why is it dry AND breaking out" — this is the answer.
• Anua Heartleaf 77% Toner — for when your face is red or reactive. About 22,000₩. Yes, everyone recommends it. Everyone is right.
• COSRX Pimple Master Patches — around 2,500₩ for a sheet. Ridiculous that anyone pays $8 for these on Amazon.
• Torriden DIVE-IN Serum — low-molecular hyaluronic. This is the one product I've never met someone whose skin hated it.

Overrated, don't fill your suitcase:

• Snail creams — I know, I know. Half of people are allergic. Try a sample first.
• Any "10-step" bundle — you don't need 10 steps.
• Sheet masks in bulk — they dry out in your luggage. Grab a variety pack, don't stockpile.

Practical tips:

• Get the Olive Young membership at checkout even as a tourist. Free, points stack fast.
• Prices are basically the same across Seoul stores. Don't drive to Gangnam thinking it's cheaper.
• The Myeongdong Olive Young is a maze at peak hours. Go to the Hongdae one or any random neighborhood store — same stock, half the chaos.
