5 Korean words that instantly make you sound less like a beginner

Not vocab list stuff. These are the small tics real Korean speakers use that textbooks don't teach you. Sprinkle them in and people stop switching to English on you.

1. 진짜? (jinjja?) = "for real?" — the universal reaction sound. Replace all your Really?s with this. Life-changing.

2. 아 맞다 (a matda) = "oh right" — when you remember something mid-sentence. Say it out loud, it's the vibe of "oh yeah I forgot to tell you".

3. 그니까 (geunikka) = "exactly" / "that's what I'm saying" — agreement + shared frustration. It's 그러니까 shortened. Overuse it, no one cares.

4. 어쩔 수 없지 (eojjeol su eopji) = "nothing you can do about it" — the shrug in words. Perfect for weather, delayed trains, life.

5. 대박 (daebak) = "whoa/no way/awesome" — you already know this one. Use it correctly: it's a reaction, not an adjective. "대박!" = "wow!". "대박이야" = "it's crazy". Do not say "the food is 대박" — say "이 음식 대박이다" (this food is amazing).

Homework: use one of these in a conversation this week. Even in text. It counts.
